S W I S S is short for Secure Web Interfaced Scanner Server. S W I S S is a standalone web server which supports both the HTTP and HTTPS via SSL v.3.0 standards. The server features one secure zone and one secure administrators zone. The secure zone features a network scanner and the admin zone features user and admin management for the server. The server also have a public zone where any HTML pages who not require authentication can be kept. The network scanner has a set of scanners for different purposes, it includes TCP/UDP port scan, Ping scan, NetBios scan, SMTP and HTTP scans and more. More scanners are being added to the server frequently. All these scanners can be accessed with any web browser, like Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. It is up to the administrator to decide if the server should be public and accessible by all, or if there should be user and password authentication for all users and administrators. The scanners can be set to do everything from a simple scan of a single host or more complex scans of custom lists or ranges of IPs. The scans are performed automatically and the user can select to have the results sent by e-mail, instead of waiting for the results. Templates can be used to automate the use of the network scanner. A template is a file containing a custom list of IP-addresses or port nummbers. The server can be run on any computer, it do not need any preinstalled software such as IIS or Apache. However S W I S S can use a database to store it's users and administrators. If no data base is available the users and administrators can be set in a XML file.
